Homologation-Ready Motorsport Gear Sets

For historic motorsport we produce gear sets in various ratios and complete ring-and-pinion sets – ground, documented and suitable for building homologated racing gearboxes. The best-known part in the programme is the 8:35 final drive for the 915 gearbox.

The 8:35 final drive for the 915 gearbox

The short final drive with ratio i = 4.375 – ring and pinion as fitted to the 911 RS and RSR (Porsche reference number 915 302 911 02). Newly produced in Germany on modern gear-cutting machinery, faithful 1:1 to the original.

The quality shows on the tooth surface: ground on drive and coast side to a tolerance in the region of 0.0025 mm, not milled and lapped to a price. Every set is serial-numbered and delivered with a measurement report; the setting dimension for optimum running is etched into the pinion face. The matching high-tensile ring-gear bolt kit is included.

Gear sets and racing gearboxes

Beyond the final drive we produce:

Combined with our limited-slip differential, this adds up to a complete, homologation-ready drivetrain package from one workshop – gear cutting, differential, setup and test bench under one roof.

Setting up is part of the job

A precise gear set is worthless if backlash and contact pattern are wrong. That is why we offer installation including setup to factory specification – with original setting tools, contact-pattern check and a final test-bench run. If you install it yourself, the documented setting dimension ships with the set.

Advice by regulations

Common questions

01 What makes the 8:35 final drive special?

It is the short racing ratio (i = 4.375) of the 915 gearbox as run in the 911 RS and RSR – produced new in Germany, faithful 1:1 to the original, Porsche reference number 915 302 911 02. Combined with our limited-slip differential it is suitable for building a homologated historic racing gearbox.

02 How do I know the gear teeth are genuinely precise?

Every set is serial-numbered and comes with its own measurement report. The teeth are ground on drive and coast side to a tolerance in the region of 0.0025 mm – not milled and lapped. The exact setting dimension for optimum running is etched into the face of the pinion.

03 What is included in delivery?

The set ships with the matching high-tensile bolt kit for the ring gear. The final drive can also be used with a mechanical speedometer drive.

04 Can you install the set as well?

Yes, at short notice. Sensibly we combine installation with setting up the ring and pinion to factory specification – and, if you wish, with a gearbox rebuild or the installation of a limited-slip differential in the same operation.

05 Are other ratios and gearboxes available?

Yes. Gear sets are produced in various ratios, plus final drives such as the 7:31 for the Porsche 356 gearbox. Dog-engagement layouts for pure racing use are possible too – send us your regulations.
