Reproduction of Obsolete Parts

When a part has been out of production for decades, a restoration often stalls on one single component. We reproduce it – from measuring the old part through drawing creation to the heat-treated, ground new part. All under one roof.

From catalogue gap to new part

The process is always the same, whether it is a stub axle or a valve-train gear:

  1. Take the pattern – old part, sample or existing drawing
  2. Measure and reconstruct – dimensions, material, gear data, hardness profile
  3. Create the drawing – CAD in DWG/DXF format, agreed with you
  4. Machine – turning, gear cutting, hardening, grinding on our own machines
  5. Inspect and deliver – measured, documented, ready to install

You deal with one person throughout. There is no chain of design office, turning shop, hardening plant and grinding shop between whose links responsibility and deadlines disappear.

Material and heat treatment

A reproduction is only as good as its material. We select steel and heat treatment to match the function of the part – high-strength alloys for shafts and stub axles, case-hardened gear teeth, ground functional surfaces. On request the execution is documented in a measurement report.

A note on classification

Our reproductions are not original manufacturer parts, and we have no commercial affiliation with any vehicle manufacturer. Type designations are used solely to describe fitment. That, incidentally, is exactly why this work exists: parts no manufacturer supplies anymore have to be made somewhere.

Common questions

01 The original only exists in worn condition. Is that enough as a pattern?

Usually yes. We measure the old part, reconstruct the nominal dimensions and gear data, and create the production drawing from that. For badly damaged parts, reference parts or published data help fill the gaps.

02 Is the reproduction as good as the original?

Mechanically it is usually better, because modern materials and processes are available. The 915 stub axle, for example, matches the original in appearance and dimensions, swaps 1:1, and is made from high-grade material, elaborately ground and heat-treated.

03 May I run reproduction parts in historic motorsport?

Our Porsche special parts can be used for building homologated racing gearboxes. Your regulations are what counts – name the series and we will advise on the execution.

04 Do you reproduce parts outside Porsche?

Yes. Anything a drawing, sample or pattern can describe – from a Mercedes differential component to the gear of a vintage agricultural machine.

05 Do I keep the drawing?

Yes. The CAD drawing (DWG/DXF) created during the job ships with the part – for reorders or your documentation.
